Grandma and Grandpa made it home to do our annual trip to missouri town. I have not written about this latest journey for my family, but here i go. Right after Molly's 3rd birthday my parents went to MD Anderson to get what we all though was a beign tumor in my dad's throat removed. What transpired after that was the biggest gut punch our family has endured. My dad was told he had cancer. To say we were all in shock would be an understatement. With no family history this came out of left field. That said, my dad is a fighter, he is a man that refuses to give up when times are tough, brave when he is not sure what is next...he is my hero and an inspriation. My mom is right beside him cheering him on and being his rock...she is the roots of this family. This will be a long journey, but we are a family and we will all support each other through this.

Mimi (joe's mom) came to town mid august to celebrate Molly's birthday. She threw a party at Uncle Jay's. It was great to see everyone, and Molly had a fantastic time.

Our sweet Molly turned 3, and all i can think is where did the time go? She is such an amazing little creature. She is sooo smart, can carry on full conversations, and comprehends everything you are saying. Her verbiage is on par with many of my pre-k kids at school. She is bright, kind, loving a little sassy and full of personality. Her teacher had told me she is certain Molly will be a star, as she is the center of every room....

Joe and I are so impressed with the way she processes (ahem manipulates) but we have her card.
For her birthday we went to the "sprinkle" park, her request. We also made chocolate, vanilla and strawberry cupcakes. Again, in sprinkle theme. It was a fantastic party and we were honored to have so many friends celebrate the day with us.

Being as Molly has an August birthday we celebrated at the end of summer school.
She is so much bigger then when she first started last year, and loves school and her friends. She felt like such a big girl sharing her cupcakes that we made together.

When we first arrived to the beach Molly was overwhelmed with the vastness of the ocean. The first few days she only wanted to be on the sand, but she warmed up quickly. Surfing and boogie boarding or "belly" boarding as molly called it became fast favorites. Along with me carrying her out and letting the waves "smack our booty's," she would sequel in delight.

We had such a fantastic time in Texas, hands down our favorite was the ocean, and of course being together. We did try to do the beach early then again late day to avoid peak sun time. Molly also enjoyed moody garden... the texas albums will be a hodge podge of great times!

Road trip!!

Off we went to Texas, and Molly did a fantastic job riding in the car. I did bring out the DVD player around Wichita with a special new movie for her, the chipmunks. She is in love with them, this is her first obsession. :) Check out the hands on her face as she is watching, or should i say "swooning."
First night we spent in Oklahoma, we stretched our legs at the local park and had ice cream. The next night we made it to Corsicana, Molly noted, "this can not be Texas, I do not see seashells?! (after all we were beach bound)

Annie spent the day with us on Thursday...the girls had a fantastic time. papa even made a popcorn. This is the first time Molly saw such a sight.

Silver Dollar City/ OH the weather!!

Sunday we went on a Silver Dollar City adventure. Molly loved everything about it...the ride down in the RV, the rides at SCD, Funnel Cake and sleeping in the camper as tornado's popped up all around us. That's right we were in the Ozarks camping during the Joplin tornado. Thankfully, the littles slept well and once we had a break in the weather we headed home a day early. Safety first! We promised the girls we would try again this summer. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa.

Molly is such a little doll baby. It is amazes me how incredible this little creature is. She is so smart, and just a little chatter box. We are attempted to wean. It is so hard, as neither of us really want to do it, but Joe is wanting to keep her overnight soon...and i want to do all that i can to ensure they have a good night. in attempting to wean, i tell molly we will nurse for 1 minute...and she looks lovingly and says, "how about 3??" and yes, she wins. :) she says, "mama, WE nurse at bedtime, and it is bedtime." how can i argue that...and she is one little negotiator. LOVE HER.

I took Molly in for her first haircut. I loved her beautiful long hair, but she absolutely hated to have it brushed. It was a nightmare for us both. We are really pleased with her new cut. Molly did so good sitting in the chair and letting the stylist cut away.

After our small family Christmas we went to mom and dads, nathan, carina, isobel and annie meet us over for brunch then gifts. The little one's did such a great job taking turns and admiring each others loot. Molly got all kinds of goodies favorites include an art easel (so cool) kids cooking set (since we love to cook together) georgie bobo the monkey, books, sling for her baby doll, Nemo movie, clothes, slippers and manicure set. It was so hard to get good pictures, as M was moving fast!

Girls Day Out

Molly and I have had a rough week! Molly had a stomach virus, i had bronchitis, then the stomach bug. We are now on the road to health and wanted to get out today and enjoy a girls day! She is so amazing and i love spending time with her. Tonight, when we were recapping our day, she told me i was her best pal forever. <3 I hope she always feels that way.
We went to see Mr. Stinky feet, she feel asleep on the way there. As you can see by the pictures she was still a little drowsy. Mr. Stinky feet invited her up to play with the band. It was so sweet. We then went to lunch at chipotle, one of our favorites.

My Sweet Grams

My dear sweet grams passed away this week. She was truly an amazing woman, friend and grandma. As most of you know we had a very special relationship. I was with her holding her hand as she passed. Yesterday, was her funeral. It was a beautiful fall day in the country where she grew up. I was entranced as i watched the clouds and leaves falling from the trees. I know she is with me, in my heart, and memories...and as i learned a few days ago, she is still teaching me lessons. Everyone that knew my grams loved her. As far back as i can remember she would take me to the family cemetery and we would decorate the graves with flowers. When I was 5 or so she said to me, "will you come put out flowersfor me?" i said, "sure grandma, but someone will have to drive me." How lucky for me, that it would be 30 years later... I have so many fantastic memories of my grams. I will be telling Molly stories of her grams for the rest of my life. Molly was also very important to grams. For those of you that did not know, many folks called my grams, Janey...hence Molly's middle name Jayne. :)
Molly and I went to see grams several times a month, it made my heart so happy to see the love between my grams and my sweet baby girl. The night before my grams passed, Molly and I went to see her. We knew she was not feeling well, but really did not realize how little time we had left with her. I will never forget, Molly snuggling her and bed and saying, "i love you grams....."
That love will live on, in me, my family and sweet baby Molly.

When my family first moved to LS in 1990, one of the first things we did was Missouri Town's fall fest, i remember going when Molly was 6 weeks old, (reference october 2008 blog) and we went again this past weekend. My parents took us, and the girls as you can see had a wonderful time!! Molly loved looking at the sheep, chickens, ox and donkeys. Eating kettle corn and going on a tractor ride and hoping hay bale to hay bale were just some of the highlights.

One of Molly's besties is kieran, we always have so much fun together. Play dates used to be a regular thing with us, before i became a working mama. Yesterday, however, school was out and we made up for lost time. We started out doing storytime at the library, then we took a trolley ride around the square in independence. Stopping at an old train depot for lunch, and photos in an old stage coach. We also shared a malt at clinton, which is the soda shop Harry Truman worked in as a boy. It was a fantastic time!!

Camping!

My childhood is filled with many many wonderful memories of family float trips. I jumped at the chance for Molly to experience a family camping trip, it was a bummer it was not everyone, but Grandma and Papa took the littles and myself. The Meisserts meet us at the river. The girls had a wonderful time! We played in the beautiful cool, clear river. Splashing about and skipping rocks. Grandma also made sure the girls had bubbles, tea parties and art supplies.
Molly loved waking up seeing her cousins, then the girls would run into grandma and papa's bedroom and hopped in bed with them, giggling as they climbed in. We also went the fish hatchery to feed the fish and went to the "waterfall" to watch the folks fish, along with a trip to the nature center.
I must admit i never know just how hard camping with a little one was. Sweet molly did everything she could to keep up with her cousins. This lead to many falls, and a few bumps and bruises. But she kept going! until she crashed in bed at night time.
We all had a wonderful trip~

Today was family party, and molly has been talking about it for days. She was so excited to see her cousins, they missed her actually birthday, as they were in Chicago. Auntie Carina was sick, so she missed it, and we missed her.

Today we had a playdate to celebrate Molly's 2nd B-day. She had a wonderful time playing with her friends, Kieran,Dionna, Lollie, Madelyn, Stacie, Ava, Lyla, Sarah, Jaxon, Amber, Iris, Eden, Jean,Quincy, and of course grandma and papa.
